The first quarter began with the teams competing head-to-head in the initial minutes of the game. For a slight amazement of the home fans, underdogs Zalaegerszeg led at this point by three (4th minute 8-11), but then came a huge run from Sopron, who performed a 25-4 period in the next nine minutes, giving themselves an eighteen-point lead (13th minute 33-15). In the remainder of the second quarter our lead decreased by two points, giving us a calming sixteen-point advantage before the half-time break (20th minute 48-32).
Our team continued in the third period where they left off before half-time, and after 46 seconds the lead passed the 20-point mark (31th minute 53-32). We managed to win this quarter as well, the ladies scored 8 more points, than those at the opposing side, resulting in a 70-46 lead at the end of the third quarter.
The last ten minutes of the game might have seemed to be a must, and only that, but it is far from the truth. Even being behind by a lot, ZTE never gave up and tried their best to make the finishing result look better, but they couldn't keep up with our team's pace, and lost the last quarter as well. We can say that from the home side everyone who played in this game contributed to the win either on offense or defense, making it look simple (40th minute 95-67).
Roberto Iniguez: I congratulated my team on fighting well, because even though it seemed so, this wasn't an easy game. Our opponent never gave up, so we had to play focused throughout the entire game. I'm very happy, because this was a perfect last practice before Wednesday's game in the Euroleague. That will be a tough fight, a completely different game, but I'm looking forward to it.
Dávid Gáspár: Our opponent in our second championship game was a strong Sopron, against whom we had some good periods, and we never gave up. I'm proud of my team for that!
Crystal Langhorne: I felt good on court, I think today's game was okay. Although I've only seen the arena yet, I can tell that it's warmer here than I thought.
Janeesa Desiree Jeffery: Sopron is a tough team who participate in Euroleague. We tried to do our best against them. This was my second game in Hungary, but I can tell that it's a strong championship, where physicality plays a huge role. We're aware of our goals, and will do our best to reach them.
At some point in the game we led by as much as twenty points, then Galatasaray bounced back and made it a one-possession game, but the girls held on to the remains of their former lead and got a huge win on the road in Istanbul
