We started the game better and got into an early lead by quick baskets (2nd minute 0-5). After that Cegléd woke up and tied it up a bit over halfway through the first period (8-8). After that we took control of the game led by Queralt who got some steals on defense to launch our attacks. This pressure led to a six-point advantage when the buzzer rang to signal the end of the first period (10th minute 12-18).
The second quarter began with a free throw by Swanier, to which Kata answered back with a jumper for two. After that Tina converted two shots from the line into points, and then Debi made a long double to force a time-out for Cegléd (15th minute 13-24). However, they were unable to stop us on offense, only when we were already in a 16-1 scoring run has Gorjanácz finally hit a triple. After that Betti came up with a three-point play to set the score for half time (20th minute 16-37).
Queralt opened the third quarter with a double, to which Yvonne added a triple forcing the next time-out for Cegléd (16-42). After the short break Aleks hit one from downtown, and then Candice made a shot from inside the paint, to which Queralt added a lay-up after she ran down the court following her own block. Four minutes into the quarter Cegléd got their first points in the half as well, when Popovic buried a three, but then Betti answered back right away with a double. Cegléd seemed to have found their rhythm on offense, Gorjanácz also made a triple, to which Swanier added a double from mid-range. Kata finally put an end to Cegléd's run with a lay-up, to which then Debi added a three from the corner (28th minute 24-56). Tina scored fro two afterward, while Popovic hit both attempts from the line to end the period (30th minute 26-58).
Virág opened the final stage of the game with an open three, to which Hamilton-Carter answered back with a lay-up. Then it was our young guard who scored again, this time from mid-range, followed by a lay-up from Aleks which made Peter Jankovic call his next time-out (32nd minute 28-65). Both sides stepped up on defense for the next couple of minutes rendering each other scoreless, until Kami put an end to the drought with an open three, increasing our lead to forty. With three minutes left on the game clock there were only Hungarian players on the court in our team, who managed to grow our lead even further by the end (40th minute 31-75).
Roberto Iniguez: Thank you for the nice words and well wishes! We will do everything we can in the FINAL4. We need a lot of energy and faith. We have to keep doing the same things day-by-day. We have to dream big, but shouldn't be afraid of the task. We did a good job in the quarter final, and we are through to the next round. I wish all the best for our opponents for the future. We want to continue the play-offs with the same energy.
Virág Weninger: In the first half we didn't play in our rhythm, and missed many shots. We tried to fix that after the break. Thank you to Cegléd, because we were able to play such good games with them!
Peter Jankovic: Congratulations to Sopron for the semi-final! I think everybody expected that. They showed a great performance on defense today as well, it was very hard to create open shots. I want to wish them the best of luck for the FINAL4, I believe they will be able to surprise Europe.
Ágnes Gorjanácz: Congratulations to Sopron. It is always difficult to play here, because they are one of the best teams in Europe. We tried to keep up with them, and this is what we could get out of it. We will prepare for the next round, hopefully it will go better. I wish the best of luck to Sopron for the next week!
Our head coach Roberto Iniguez spent two wonderful years with us, who has visited our Managing Director Zoltán Török as promised with whom they agreed in a discussion about the future that he will come back to Sopron one day
