Demanding week starts off against Belgian champions
We are facing a tough game after the national team break in Euroleague right away. We host Castors Braine on Gameday 5 at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Although the Belgians are at the bottom of the group without a win, the were never subordinate in their games so far. What's more, they had a one-possession game at Galatasaray.
They have already competed in Euroleague once three years ago, but five wins and good performance wasn't enough to get through to the play-offs. They'd like to change that at all costs this year. To achieve this, they set the goal to reach the 5th-6th place for themselves. They are far from that right now, but it's just the beginning of the series, so they have plenty of time left to better this performance.
It can already be seen that their style of play is starting to develop and come together. Of course they need time to do that, since they changed and strengthened their team in five key positions. They made three of their former players come back to the team. The most important signing for them might have been Belgian national team point guard Marjorie Carpréaux's acquisition. Aneta Steinberga couldn't get a main role at strong side Prague, but in Belgium she already has the second most minutes on court. Young talent Emmanuella Mayombo can be a useful auxiliary player. From America experienced player Britney Jones joined their roster, but she still owes the team some good performances, unlike Ukrainian Malashenko, who produced a nearly 12-point average in their first four games. From last season's roster Delaere, Trahan-Davis, and Anderson brought a consistent performance, so they need to be joined by some newcomers, and if that happens they will see brighter future for sure.
Let's hope they don't start climbing up on Wednesday. Let's hope that our team's pace wasn't broken by the two-week pause! If it will be so and we can continue playing focused and in a good pace, then we could increase the number of our wins.
The game tips off at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the venue for 1300 HUF. Entry to the game is free of charge under the age of 14 and above 70.
We asked Angela Salvadores about her expectations before the game.
