The first basket of the game was scored by Crystal, which marked the beginning of a 9-0 run in the first three minutes, giving our team a confident lead early on. The away fans had to wait four minutes for their team's first points in the game, which came after a double by Fontenette. The difference just kept growing, and five minutes into the game it has reached double figures (6th minute 13-2). After this run DVTK seemed to have woken up, they tied the game by the beginning of the last minute in the period (10th minute 15-15), but then came Yvonne, who hit one from behind the arc, and added a free throw to her total giving us the lead before the buzzer (10th minute 19-15).
The second period began with Debi scoring from three, and Virág adding a double and a triple to our total forcing a time-out by the guests (13th minute 27-15). After Crystal's made shot our run got stretched to 10-0 before DVTK scored their first basket in the quarter at the 15-minute mark (15th minute 29-17). They couldn't be happy for too long, because Yvonne came up with a triple, and Tina added two more, before the second basket by the guests. A little further into the second quarter the difference has reached twenty points after Aleks' triple (17th minute 40-19). In the remaining time of the half both teams fought hard to turn the game in their favor, but there was no significant change to the margin, after the made shot from downtown by Angela the half ended with a comfortable Sopron lead (20th minute 50-28).
Two free throws converted by Fontenette signed the beginning of the second half, and on the other end Tina converted an and-one followed by Yvonne's double (24th minute 55-30). In the next few minutes we could see some technical and unsportsmanlike fouls, but we came out lucky at the end of this period leading by 27 points (26th minute 58-31). A couple of minutes later after the exchange of buckets by Fontenette and Angela the difference has grown all the way up to thirty points (28th minute 63-33). Then came Betti with four points giving us the biggest advantage in the game, but the quarter wasn't over just yet, and DVTK reduced their deficit by five points by the end of the period (30th minute 69-40).
In the closing quarter the only question remaining unanswered was the final margin, and Miskolc did everything in their power to make it as good-looking as possible, while coach Iniguez gave some valuable minutes on court to our talented youngsters, and there was a period when only Hungarian players were playing in our team. In the latter half of the final quarter former Sopron player Fanni Szabó launched the rockets and scored eight points for Miskolc in the last six minutes including a buzzer-beater triple which signalled the end of the game (40th minute 79-62).
Roberto Iniguez: I have two things to say. First, I would like to congratulate our guests for never giving up even for a minute. The other thing is: I am very angry! We only played for 15 minutes today. People are paying to see us play well for 40 minutes, and we failed them today! This is why we are going to have a practice tomorrow. I don't care how important game is coming in the Euroleague. I don't care who is on the court. You can make mistakes, but I don't want to see anyone on the court without concentration, energy and attitude. I don't care how old you are, show me what you got, and give your best!
Stefan Svitek: We didn't start the game well, we missed a lot of shots, unlike our opponent, who have found the way to break through our zone defense. Congratulations to Sopron, we can see the effect of them playing in Euroleague every week! We were soft under the basket, but I'm happy that our new American perimeter player joined us with a good performance, and I'm also happy about us not giving up at all, and fighting until the final buzzer. I'm sure we will be able to build our new players into the team, and we will get better than this!
Tina Jovanovic: We tried to give our best today, and keep our focus until the end of the game. This game might have looked easy from the outside, but it wasnt easy at all.
Zele Dorina: The beginning of the game didn't pan out as planned. Sopron made good use of their advantage in the paint. We tried to fight and hustle until the end thus decreasing the margin of defeat.
