After the tough battle against Gdynia our team will head to Pécs where we will look to keep our unbeaten streak alive in the league. In our current situation it won't be easy for us!
As it was shown in the game against Gdynia, the absence of Jelena Brooks is an even more serious setback for than that of Briann January, because her absence demanded structural changes as well. More players have been moved to unusual positions in which they are not comfortable, which made its mark on our offensive possessions. What's more, Tina wasn't able to spend enough time on court due to her dislocated ankle. The girls gave it all they had, but the well-prepared, massive Polish team led by the WNBA center Marie Gülich stole the victory away from us.
Euroleague is of course a completely different level from the domestic league, bu we have to pay attention to Róbert Meszlényi's squad. Even though they currently only stand at the 9th place in the league they would most likely want to be at the Hungarian Cup final in március which will be held in Pécs. To do so, they will have to be in the top eight halfway through the regular season, from which they are only a step away. It could also be a warning sign that a week ago they beat the constantly improving team of Cegléd 70-62, and unlike us, they were able to prepare for the game for a whole week.
As Dávid Gáspár also stated after Thursday's defeat the girls are working hard, and hopefully our solid defense will pair up with efficient offense in this new line-up.
We asked Dalma Czukor about her expectations before the game.
