We put up a great performance on both ends of the court to crack Diósgyőr and come away with a big victory in the championship.

Morrison got the game going with a lay-up, to which Dalma answered back with a double of her own from the corner. After that Walker-Kimbrough and Aleks exchanged buckets, the former scored for two and the latter for three (3rd minute 5-4). A bit later following two successful free throws by Aleks the difference went over a single basket’s worth for the first time (5th minute 10-6). However, Pusztai got it back down to one with a triple, to which Briann answered back with a double. After that we managed to pull away from the guests, and when Debi made a close shot László Cziczás decided to call a time-out to talk things over (8th minute 20-11). Goree made both foul shots awarded to her after the break, while Zsófi split the pair at the other end, then Briann ended the first period with a triple beating the buzzer (10th minute 24-13).
Our American guard kicked off the second with a lay-up, and then Skoric made an easy basket from inside the paint, which started a comeback effort from DVTK, but we managed to put an end to it and take over control again (14th minute 30-18). After that Betti scored twice off assists by Briann, forcing DVTK to call their next time-out (34-18). Medgyessy made a lay-up after the break, to which Aleks answered back likewise, and when she managed to beat her defender for two again, the difference has reached twenty points for the first time in the game (17th minute 40-20). In the closing minutes of the half both sides were able to put some more points on the scoreboard, but we were still ahead by the same amount (20th minute 48-27).
Betti made a lay-up to start the second half, to which Goree reacted with a shot from downtown. After that neither side was able to crack the opposition’s defense, so the score remained the same for a while (24th minute 52-30). Then Goree and Zsófi exchanged quick buckets, followed by two successful free throws by Morrison. Tina made a lay-up, and then Briann drew an unsportsmanlike foul on Katona, following which she made both free throws, and then later on she hit a mid-range jumper as well (26th minute 60-34). Two possessions later the difference has reached the thirty-point mark which forced László Cziczás to call his team to the bench for a time-out (64-34). DVTK managed to cut into their deficit a little bit by the end of the period, but our advantage was still big (40th minute 67-40).
Tina converted a lay-up to begin the final stage of the game, and then Aleks hit one from mid-range. Alíz also put her name on the scoreboard with a triple, before Zele was able to make a shot for DVTK in the quarter (32nd minute 74-42). We kept scoring and stopping the guests on defense, which forced their next time-out in the game, because the difference has reached forty points (35th minute 82-42). A minute later we were already on a 19-2 scoring run in the quarter, when Skoric made one from mid-range, and then Kányási also went in for a lay-up forcing Dávid Gáspár to call a time-out (86-48). In the final minutes Diósgyőr were able to carve into their deficit a little, but we still came away with a confidence-boosting victory against one of our biggest rivals (40th minute 89-52).
Dávid Gáspár: We prepared a lot for this game hpysically, as well as mentally. From our perspective the result came out very well. We think of DVTK as serious rivals, and it is for sure that the difference between the two teams is not this big. We have worked a lot for this difference, and I am sure that the can play in a better shape as well. We are happy things turned out this way today. I m proud of the girls! We have been struggling with many problems latelybut every single player who had to take on a different role or responsibility has found their place and the task they have to fulfill. We ran and made contact the way it should be. We will not celebrate too much, just like we weren't too sad recently either.
Debóra Dubei: We are very happy! This victory was very important for the team! I hope that we have managed to come out of the rough stretch we were having for good. Our confidence came back, which also showed in our shooting percentage. We are happy and proud for being able to show who we are and what Sopron Basket stands for!
László Cziczás: Congratulations to SOpron, they played fantastically! I knew they were deadly on their home court, they proved why they are playing in Euroleague. They were better at pace, hustle, decision making, everything. This was just a game, though, we have a goal that we set for ourselves, we will not give up on that. Sopron was a lot better today, but I hope that next time we can get closer to them, this is what we are working for day-by-day. I know the girls, we are working a lot, and we will get over this bad period. We'll keep going forward!
Dóra Medgyessy: First of all, congratulations to Sopron, they showed today how great a team they are even with an incomplete line-up. They overcame us in every aspect of basketball. You can play badly, but today we had some issues with will as well. The season is still long, I hope that we will fix these and compete with Sopron.
