TF started the game better, and built up an eight-point lead in a little over two minutes forcing Dávid Gáspr to call a time-out (3rd minute 10-2). Betti came up with a three-point play, to which Alisia Jenkins answered back with an easy lay-up, and then Debi buried a triple. We couldn't get closer, though, because Bernáth also put three points on the scoreboard. After that it seemed like we were able to take control, after seven minutes the team from the capital were ahead by only two points, which made Bianka Magyar call her first time-out as well (7th minute 22-20). We couldn't take over the lead after the short break either, what's more, the difference has increased again. At the end of the first period we were trailing by six points (10th minute 30-24).
The second quarter began with an exchange of bukets between Doktor and Briann, the former scored for two and the latter for three. In this quarter there weren't as many baskets made as in the first, but approaching the middle of the period our opponents were sill ahead by five (15th minute 34-29). A bit more than a minute later Virág hit a three from the corner reducing the gap to one, but Alisia Jenkins was also successful from the foul line. We caught up with Bianka Maygar's team with five quick points by Jeca, and Briann's free throw already gave us the lead, to which she also added a shot from downtown. After that the gap has widened a buit more, and we were in a six point lead at half time (20th minute 43-49).
Doktor and Briann both opened the second half with three pointers, and then TF equalized in two minutes (52-52). After that the teams were neck and neck, although we were always ahead by one or two baskets. We were ahead by four in the middle of the quarter following a triple by Virág (25th minute 56-60). Then as a rule, TF showed their worth again, they scored five points to which we didn't have an answer, and they took over the lead. In the last two minutes we shook ourselves, and built up an eight point lead with a basket by Tina, but our opponents stayed close to us with a triple by Bernáth (30th minute 67-72).
We began the final stage of the game with a 6-0 run, and the difference between the sides grew into double digits with a lay-up by Zsófi, time-out TF (32nd minute 67-78). Our opponents led multiple successful attacks after the short pause, and they came back down to four points, when Zsófi buried a mid-range jumper. The difference altered between 4-6 points in the next few minutes, and our head coach decided to call a time-out (37th minute 76-84). After that there was a little trouble in a fight for a rebound, which resulted in Zsófi getting a technical and Chanise Jenkins getting an unsportsmanlkie foul called on them .We took the chance, and increased our lead to double digits again, forcing Bianka Magyar to call a time-out (38th minute 79-91). Keeping this advantage in the last minutes we secured a spot in the final (40th minute 90-99).
Dávid Gáspár: "Our opponents played a great basketball. They were in the zone, they improved a lot individually since the start of the season. They gave us a lesson in attitude, persistence and heart which is very upsetting. We only took our jersey out on tge court tonight. Congratulations to them! We can be happy about one thing, tga fact tgat we won the game! "
Briann January: "It was a real cup game. If you enter a competition, you want to get the most out of it. They came prepared, and fought for forty minutes. They posted a real challenge for us today. This is the real game, these games take us forward and that is why the Hungarian league is interesting, because no matter where you are you always stand a chance. There were people who stepped forth today helping the team with a valuable performance."
