Zsófi got the game going with a triple, to which Tina added a three-point play early on. After that Bach split a pair of free throws. So did Gabby at the other end, who then made a lay-up, too, and when Tina managed to score again, increasing our lead to double digits it was time for Vasas to call their first time-out in the game (3rd minute 1-11). Tina and Bach exchanged buckets after the short pause, launching another scoring run for us, led by Gabby and Tina (6th minute 3-19). After that Vasas came up with a run of their own, cutting into their deficit, forcing head coach Dávid Gáspár to call his first time-out in the game (10-19). The home side managed to come even closer, but then Dalma stopped their run with a mid-range double, and we managed to restore a just below double-digit advantage until the end of the first period (10th minute 14-23).
Jeca opened the second quarter with a double, to which Sára added a triple off Gabby’s assist. We managed to stretch this run all the way to fourteen points before Vasas were able to make their first basket in the quarter (15th minute 16-37). In the second half of the quarter we came up with yet another huge scoring run, increasing our lead all the way to thirty points (18-48). Smailbegovic converted an and-one, to which Alíz replied from outside, and then Gabby set the score for the half with a lay-up (20th minute 21-53).
Bach opened the third with a double, to which Gabby answered back likewise, and then Kami split a pair of shots at the foul line. Tina was also successful from inside the paint. Our center was on fire for this period, she made another double (23rd minute 24-60). We dominated this quarter, too, led by Tina, who was just one rebound shy of a monster double-double by the middle of the quarter (27th minute 26-70). Mudra came up with a three-point play for Vasas, while at the other end Kami buried one from downtown, and then Alíz put two more on the board, and by the end of the quarter we were flirting with a fifty-point advantage (30th minute 29-78).
Dalma got the final stage of the game going with a double, to which Alíz added another one. At the beginning of the last quarter we saw a balanced battle, the teams were neck and neck in that one (35th minute 36-85). After that Dalma buried a three, to which Orsolya Tóth answered back with two successful free throws. Six minutes into the quarter Dávid Gáspár decided to call a time-out, after which Betti made a lay-up (38-92). In the last minutes we played with a full-Hungarian line-up, just like we did in Game 1, and secured a spot in the semi-final (40th minute 40-92).
Dávid Gáspár: We took the game seriously from the first moment until the last. Everyone got the minutes they needed, and took advantage of them. The two teams obviously fight for different goals, I wish Vasas the best of luck for the future! Their young players are improving nicely, the signs of which were shown tonight.
Alíz Varga: We had a bit of a slump in the first quarter, but got out of it quickly. I am happy about the win and also about the fact that the young players performed well tonight, too.
